Vision Therapy

Vision Therapy

Visual therapy, also known as visual perceptual motor integration therapy or visual training, is an individualised program designed by developmental and behavioural optometrists to enhance visual function and promote the visual development of individuals with conditions such as strabismus (squint), amblyopia (lazy eye), visual-motor integration (eye-hand coordination) problems, visual dysfunction, visual perceptual issues, vision-related learning difficulties. As the visual system develops through various visual experiences during childhood, vision therapy aims to provide the necessary meaningful experiences to facilitate the development of various visual skills.

The therapy involves both office-based and home-based practice to achieve optimal outcomes. Collaboration and open communication among the patient, optometrist, parents, caregivers, school teachers, and other professionals are essential. The optometrists at our centre adopt a child-centred approach throughout the vision therapy journey to create a supportive environment that promotes optimal engagement and progress in vision therapy. This approach fosters confidence and helps individuals achieve their full potential.
